Revision XD

Being a 'Kendrick Girl' - as we are so keenly labelled by our teachers and parents, as if we were some sort of endangered species - is nothing to do with being clever. It isn't that we have a bigger capability to store information, or even that we are more motivated to work hard than other English students. It is nothing to do with our actual cleverness. If that's even a word. It's more to do with pretending. If you can pretend well enough, you can get by. If the teachers can't see you buckling under the stress and pressure that they impose on you, then the teachers are quite happy to believe that this stress doesn't exist. If you can pretend well enough, you can survive. And if you can pretend well enough, then the teachers will all focus on teaching you (or trying to - as preferred by Mme. Hulley) instead of focusing on making sure you're taking in what they're teaching you.

"I forget what I'm taught. I only remember what I've learnt."

My favourite poster from Mr. Detnon's R.S block/classroom. We had some interesting lessons with him. Sometimes, you learn stuff that you aren't actually taught. And that's fun.

I'm revising biology at the moment. I love biology, I think it's probably my favourite subject. Which would be why I'm revising it first. I've only got three more biology topics left.
Then there's four chemistry;
all three huge physics;
eight more rules in maths;
French writing to write;
one topic of history to put onto key points and the other two sets to read through;
four poems and a book to revise for English;
and a P.D textbook to read.

Hey! It doesn't look too bad put like that. I'm just dreading physics. Everyone knows it'll take ages.

Biology: Diet, Cholesterol & Exercise
maybe I should actually write something underneath my title now.

Bank Holidays and Half Terms.

You know what? No, stupid question really. But basically, I have never had a work free holiday. Or at least since I started secondary school. There's always some exams to revise for, or some way I can get a head start on everyone else. Or some way I can catch up on stuff I've missed. This is depressing. Actually, I think last summer was free, but I don't count it because I'd been (involuntarily) booked into some activity or other for the four weeks during which I was in England.

Now it's year ten exams. Revision. I just don't know where to start. The depressing thing is, I can think of nothing to get me through them. Suggestions welcome. See, afterwards, I know all the teachers will want to start on the year 11 part of the syllabus. And so we won't do what we did in year 8 or 9: after exams, watch videos or movies in every lesson. No, no, we'll be working. I'm dreading year 11.

On the bright side. I can always find one, promise. I'm not going to be doing solid revision, because I'm booked into tennis camp - which is a half day from Tuesday through to Friday - so I'll have half a day revising, half a day tennis-ing.

Although, at the moment, I just really cannot be bothered. And I refuse to revise when I cannot be bothered. I have a theory. If you do revision when you're in a good mood, your mind will associate revision with good feelings and you will be more motivated to revise. It's working right now. So, I'm going to find something really interesting to do, so I can then get onto revising.

Je pense que les examemens sont tres ennuyeaux parce que il y a beaucoup de preparation que on faut faire.

Sun is in the sky, oh why oh why would I wanna be anywhere else?

GOOD afternoon!
The sun is SHINING and therefore I'm happy.
Just printed mon essai d'histoire. Dans l'essai, il y a beaucoup des mots, 833 mots exactement.
(Just printed my history essay. In the essay there are lots of words, exactly 833.)
I would use my *ahem* French language skills to tell you that I'm proud of it, but I don't know proud.
We had a French listening today. It was a mock higher tier, and (I don't want to be harsh or insult those who struggle with their papers in year eleven) it was SO easy. Sorry, I'm done saying that now. Or maybe it was really difficult, but I'd gotten so so so stressed about it beforehand, and it was a massive anticlimax. And if that was higher tier, then the German lower tier that's coming up will be even easier. I'm so glad I'm not as bad as I thought.

DofE tonight. This could be interesting.

Garden Party

Promise I'll get onto the Garden Party in a sec. First, the answers to thursday's riddles.
The troll question: 2. if you leave with two cakes, each troll takes half (one) and returns one. that means after crossing each bridge, you still have both cakes. ;)

Couple with five children: they have three or more boys. therefore not only half, but more than half of the children are boys.

Garden Party.
Was awesome XD
Loved it. Firstly, it's music, which I love. Secondly, I saw so many people there. Some I expected, some I didn't.
Ended up spending most of my time with Rache, Seren, Oli Hewson (surprising actually), Mark (though less than the others, it must be said, Ellie, and at one point Stewart.
Had a huuuuge water fight with Mark, mainly consisted of him pouring water down my back, and me squeaking. But have no fear, I got him back. Soaked the front of his T-shirt.
Was good to see Oli, I don't get to talk to him much, and he's usually in trouble in choir. And even if I did get the chance, I'd have to limit how much time I spent talking to him, because Elle thinks I fancy him. And some others. And I do not want that sort of a rumour. Especially when it's not true. He's just really nice.
Rache, Seren. Good times.
Ellie. Loved seeing you my dear, it's great when we actually get a chance to talk, and yeah, I just love your personality.
One achievement of which I am entirely proud:
I managed to avoid Dorris (that's code) for the whole thing.

I've started and finished my History essay in one day. XD. The Killers, they must be my working music. It had to be short. So it is. I think it's pretty bad, so I'll probably change loads tomorrow night.

Perla is leaving. GOOD.

Doctor Who tonight.
=)
Love to all the people I saw today. That includes you, Nancy, if you're reading this. Sorry I didn't get to speak to you. You all made me sooo happy so thank you. I'm truly truly grateful, from the bottom of my heart.

Thursday, 20 May 2010

You leave the house with a basket of cakes, heading for Grandma's house.
On the way, you have to cross seven bridges.
Each bridge is guarded by a troll.
Each troll insists you pay them exactly half of your cakes before you cross, but because they're nice, they'll give you one back.
You need to arrive at Grandma's with exactly two cakes.
How many do you leave home with?

A couple have five children.
Exactly half of the children are boys. No hermaphrodites.
How is this possible?

I'll give you the answers tomorrow.

Parky.

This is to Parky.
Message number one: if you're going to bump into me, start recognising me :P
Message number two: despite the fact my flute keys are now really sticky, thanks for the dolly mixtures.

Parky bumped into me on the bus today. It was definitely him, I got on first. Anyway, neither of us saw the other when he got on. He was talking to Bethan (don't think I know her, but I may) and I was doing French revision. Then I think Bethan must've got off at some point, and I gave up on French and got out my new flute book (collected from Hickies less than fifteen minutes earlier) and start working out intervals, as practice for theory.

I think I can say I was aware of the person behind me leaning forwards loads out of the corner of my eye, but I didn't think much of it. Then the person behind me moved to sit opposite me and my reflex was to look up. And then cry out in astonishment: "Parky! Where did you come from?"
Turns out that after he worked out I was definitely me (might've been my name on the French book on the seat next to me, or the fact it was flute music, I had the right hair and was wearing glasses - actually I don't know if he noticed the French book at all) but either way, I asked how long he'd been sitting behind me and we worked out he'd got on at the Oracle, and me at Reading Station, and by this time we were at Prospect Park, so quite a while. How long had he watched me do theory since he worked out who I was? "About a minute. But I guess it was cruel" Thanks.

But he's forgiven. He's really nice, and when he bought loads of sweets from Asda (from what I can tell, he's been eating and eating and eating all day!), he shared the non-gelatinous dolly mixes with me. And he gave me an apple (I revealed I'd forgotten my lunch). And then gave me some more dolly mixes. And then when I refused to take more, he made me look away using various means and gave me more. I felt so ill by the time it was my lesson. But I'd spent half an hour or more talking and laughing. He's a great person to know.

What else? I don't know, that's my funny story of the day. Got some English Coursework results back, for the  essay I did on 'A Christmas Carol'. I was very proud. My parents are over the moon. So I'm celebrating by not doing homework.

After finally grasping the intervals within one octave, I've moved onto the much more difficult grade 5 ones. And they're much easier than I expected. Thank you again, Rachel and Parky. Compositions next. Parky gave me a tip for the music ones. Rache says she'll help me with the composing to words ones. That means I'm all covered. Only about three weeks to go :S.

blob.

No particular reason for the title.
Hey! Maybe I need a background with more blobs in it. I'll look into it.
Seeing as I haven't said much for a while, this may be long. I'll try to separate it into the somewhat shorter posts it would have been.

monday.
School was normal. DofE, however, is another matter.
I won't go on about it too much, because that would be unfair on Rachel, who wasn't able to make it. But I will tell you about it.
Kayaking. Chrome is saying that's not a word :/
Was fun. And wet. My boat was too small for me, so my knees stuck out the top. No biggie. I couldn't control my steering, so repeatedly hit the bank. No biggie. I nearly capsized playing Bulldog. No biggie.
On the way back in, just marginally more wet than all the others, I turned involuntarily, lunged to one side in the hope of stopping the boat, went half over, and recovered with a boat full of water. I was drenched. But only my legs.
Open boating-I think it's called.
Jokes. I rocked the boat, Rhianna and Mark freak out. Mark rocks the boat, realises it's fun, Rhianna freaks out. We go back in, pick up Fabian (?), drop off Rhianna and set out with the intention of jumping in. About half way out we decide it's deep enough. Then Mark and Fabian(?) start arguing who should jump first. I declare them both to be wimps, Fabian says
"Go on then" and I jump. Oops. Didn't leave myself time to think.
then Fabian jumps and Mark tries to go off with the boat. We get back in, Mark tries to push me out and achieves a full capsize. Not possible to recover from.
Then we had a swimming race. Which was crazy but fun.
I realised I'd forgotten my towel (seconds after calling Mark a retard for doing the same) and end up borrowing someone's.

tuesday.
Rachel's birthday. Went well I think.
Sailing. Fail. Just Toby and me on a lake with no wind in seperate boats. Not fun. It's supposed to be a youth club. We were the only youths.

wednesday.
Handed in English coursework. Glad that's gone.
Also, Gareth and Lizzie from the Heart Breakfast show came to our school to give us a talk during our careers lesson. Wasn't that nice of them? (by the way, they are responsible for getting me to move out of bed in the morning. i lie there listening, then an add comes on and i jump up. i hate adverts XD  )

thursday.
wait, it's not tomorrow yet. oops :S

theory!!!
Making a move on the theory front. I now nearly fully understand intervals (thank you so much Parky and Rachel - and slightly Ali, she checked one of my questions today). I'll do some work on compositions next and then I'll do a practice paper at the weekend. Exam on June 19th :S Wish me luck. I'll need it.

Again, apologies it's so long. but there's my life. and monday was so worth the length of the post. seriously, it was such fun. Mark, you idiot.

G'night.xx

Robin Hood and P.E shirts

Hallogoodeveningadieau!
Wait, adieau is not what I mean.
Anyway. HI!

ROBIN HOOOOOOOOD!
Watch it. Brilliant film. Very interesting. Some sweet bits. And a lot of very violent bits. And a pretty clever way of playing King John. I actually felt a little sorry for him until the end.

Incident number one.
The P.E. shirt.
I happened to actually remember this morning that I always seem to forget my P.E. shirt, because I took it home to wash a few weeks back and haven't seen it since. Lucky I remembered, because I have Steph's to return to her too now. Anyway, I confronted (hah! that's a nice way of putting it) Perla with the query as to where these three shirts had disappeared to, in a very polite, calm and collected manner. Seriously though. I did. Steph's was unearthed in Barney's room (after I'd actually managed to get her to understand I didn't mean my Kendrick jumper) and when I said I had two more, she looked in the ironing. On the floor of the under-stairs cupboard, there was my P.E. shirt, fresh from a week or so ago, when I brought it home. I simply said "ok, good, but I still have another one" in much simplified language. But then she started having a go at me, saying it "is not possible" "i not put here" and I wasn't even blaming her. I was trying to find the third top. Then my mum had a go at me because I was "in a bad mood and having a go at Perla because you're tired" I mean, that is rich.

I'm going to withdraw into the unbiased world of my crime novel, where the case is pretty much solved, but they have to unsolve it because the overwhelming scientific evidence has to be wrong. I'm interested to see how this will turn out.

Night! xx

See, I warned you :P

Good mood.

Yesterday. good.
I was so productive. Up at seven. Out of the house by eight thirty. In town by nine. On the train at 9.53, having bought the remainder of Rachel's birthday present, some new colouring pencils (P.D.), some new flute books (XD I'm gonna go look at them in a sec XD), looked at new T.V.s for when Barney gets into Reading, so we can have a big flat screen in the new T.V. room. Then I had my tennis lesson at ten 'till eleven. Choir 12 'till 1pm. Then work. French C.A. coming up. Then left the house for Rachel's AMAZING birthday party. No doubt she'll tell you all about it, so I won't write something that I know you'll get a duplicate of. I may comment when she does post about it though.

Thanks go to my lovely mum, who came home from shopping for a birthday present for a friend's grown-up-ish daughter and came back with a gorgeous skirt for me! And footless tights to wear with it. Wearing it now. Lovelylovelylovely clothes.

If Rachel doesn't mention the incident of picking dresses, I promise I will next time.
I have to go see these books!

Appologies in advance...

Bon soir!
I'm going to say sorry now. I'm on a trip tomorrow, and then I've got Friday Night. So I probably won't be able to say anything. In fact, I very much doubt I'll be able to say anything.

We got our German C.A writing back today. I got 26/30. Which is pretty good. It upset me though, because I knew it wouldn't be good enough for certain people. So I was dreading telling them (I think you can guess who). I was right to dread it. I told them in the most positive voice, and exclaimed that I'd expected much worse and writing was my weakest point in German, and I was proud, and it would probably amount to an A* but it still was no good. Oh well.

On another slightly also bad side of things. The phone bill came through £20 more than last month... And my fault. I got an earful for calling Rachel's mobile so much. Once at 8.40 for 40 mins. Hell that got me in trouble...

ON. THE. BRIGHT. SIDE.
wow, I used to be such a pessimist...This blog shows a whole new side of me, and actually, it's coming out in my character. I like it.

Anyway, bright stuff. My new glasses are ready for collection. Which means I no longer have to go around wearing glasses with only one leg that have a curious habit of always falling off.
P.D. DESIGN TRIP TOMORROW XD
Can't wait. MUST REMEMBER CAMERA. and phone. and money. and not to go in uniform. and my train pass (interesting mistake. this morning I got through the barriers on Mark's bus pass. Apparently bus yearly tickets are identical to train ones. Thanks Mark. Wth, I doubt he bothers reading this. But there, everyone, Mark is not heartless.)
Another bright thing. Rache's party on Saturday. Can't wait. I think Sophie's lending me a dress (we're all going in dresses.) Gonna be great. This time I will remember sleeping bag and pyjamas. yes. i forgot them last time.

Bon nuit!

WorkWorkWorkWorkWorkWorkWork!

Panicking.

Badly.

I don't even have that much of a pileup of work. I'm just panicking.

I've got about two more hours on my English 20th Century play before it's ready.

Then I've got to write a draft for my French C.A. and get a plan out of it before Monday. That's about three hours.
Minimum.

Then I've got regular homework and as much revision as I can possibly squeeze in before Half Term.
Sometimes I just really hate school.

On the bright side.

yes i am going to find one.

The German Dept. have run out of work for us. So German lessons are basically free-for-alls. As in I will be doing the overload of work in them. Hmm, maybe this isn't so bright.

Oh, I have a bright side! Sort of. Well, it's consolation.

Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly.

Consolation music. So helpful.

CAMERON? CAMERON?! CAMERON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmm. I do not like David Cameron one bit. I mean, I guess Gordon Brown resigning was inevitable, given the circumstances. But suggesting to the Queen (who I do NOT LIKE, sorry, but the Americans've got the right idea, people making these descisions should be elected. our "queen" the person with the power to disband government etc. should be elected. in elections seperate to those held for PM. whatever, this isn't about the Queen, I'll lecture on her another time) that David Cameron should be next PM? WTH? He should've suggested his underling person.

Actually, I lie. It wasn't particularly stupid. Labour are making a clever move (grudging admittance). People who voted Lib Dem will never vote for them again, because they won't want the Tories getting so close to getting in again (or Labour), they'll just revert to voting for one party so the other doesn't get in. That's why the system is wrong. People shouldn't have to vote for one party to keep another out. Tory supporters won't vote Tory again, because they're co-operating with the Lib Dems, and let's be honest, Tory and Lib Dem supporters are hardly going to see eye-to-eye. The Tory supporters who dislike Lib Dems will move further right on the political spectrum and Labour will get back in looking like heroes, who humbled themselves when necessary. Dammit!

Poor Brown, I bet he expected when he resigned Lib Dems and Labour would agree to form a coalition. Now it's all going wrong and the Lib Dems end up looking power hungry. They can say it's all for the good of the country (and perhaps it is, though they could've done something else) but hardly anyone's going to believe them. They're all going to think the Lib Dems just want the higher pay. Hmm. For shame.
Night.

Happy Coincidences

LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY ME!!!
Bumped into just the right person today! So pleased.

Walking to the station (at speed) from Alexandra Road, after my piano lesson, I bumped into Parky (I don't feel the need for a code name, as it's already a nickname). Parky gets the same train as me, sometimes, when neither one of us has activities or whatever. We talked about nothing for a while and then when we got to the station, we'd gone through scars we had, why blood goes brown (it has iron in it and iron rusts! I NEVER KNEW THAT!), washing being mixed up (not so bad for him, he's got two brothers. me on the other hand....), how we judged how fast we got to the station and um, some other crap.

At the station we got onto the subject of music, this is the great bit, and when asked what grade I was on flute, I said, truthfully,
"I'd probably be 6 by now if I could just get my theory. I actually have to take it this summer and still haven't covered everything."
Then I got the SERIOUS help I needed - and would love to think I deserve, but sadly, no. I now know why something is a diminished fifth rather than augmented fourth, and vice versa! (If it's a C and F#, because the F would be the fourth, it's augmented, if it was C and Gb, it would be diminished fifth, because G is the fifth note in the C scale!) This is brilliant, because now I can apply it to compound ones too. Great.

Then compositions.
Great advice. I'm sharing it, hope he doesn't mind, but I'll give Parky full credit right now. Parky has full credit.
You're given the first two bars. So make something up for the third and fourth (he can't really help there, just make sure it sounds OK) then repeat the first two bars as your fifth and sixth, then make something up for seventh and eighth that ends on the tonic, and preferably has the penultimate note as the fifth. Works so well. So happy to have bumped into him.

So, a big thank you to Parky for being so brilliantly amazing and for being in the right place at the right time, and recognising me without my glasses. He got very confused trying to work out if it was me or not.
So, THANK YOU PARKY.
And now I'll do the much dreaded English Coursework. Ugh.

Just Procrastinating Really...

Going to DofE tonight. I hope the little miss, notlookingatanyoneinparticularahemrachelahem, is nice to her parents, so they let her go. I really hope. Otherwise I may cry. Which would not be a good thing.

Mark gave me gelatine! :'( To his credit, it was definitely an accident, he didn't see it on the ingredients 'till after it was in my mouth, and he'd checked twice. I spat it out into a bit of paper and chucked it out the window. I definitely believe it was an accident though, because he was genuinely sorry when I got upset. So he's forgiven.

Okay, I admit it, I have nothing to talk about. I'm procrastinating. I don't like maths revision. Damn, I can't justify writing much more on here. So I'm off to go look at it.

At least I've already done my History. NO ALCIA DAMMIT! GET OFFLINE.
I'm going I'm going. Just one more thing?
NO
Okay, the inner me is saying no.

Moving rooms around. FUN XD

I think we should be celebrating that just now I logged on to see that I've written 50 posts and 101 people have kindly viewed my blog. Or at least the same people have come back to visit it every hour, but that's fine with me.

Woke up to a lovely surprise! Toby had come into my room with brioche bread and nutella, accompanied by a glass of milk. My first ever breakfast in bed! (well besides my last birthday when the wonderful brothers brought a menu for my friends and me to chose from and made us what we wanted. and brought it out to the tent. that was great too. but this was a SURPRISE!)

We've finally gotten round to sorting out the house. Half. As in, the study has been moved upstairs (which means we get to work in a warm room!!!!! But the sofa is still sitting on its end in the downstairs hall waiting to be moved into the new "TV Room" having previously lived in the playroom. (Basically, the playroom is now the study and the ex-study is now becoming a TV Room. The lounge will no longer have a TV in it and will be more along the lines of a guest entertaining room.

So all's good, especially since I've acquired two shelves in the new study (I've been begging for storage in the study for ages) and so my school books have a home, and don't need to live on my bottom bunk or floor, often causing me to forfeit my pocket money. It's just great! Unfortunately, next weekend, I forsee lots of furniture movement down the stairs, which means my dying back will be absolutely utterly dead. The reason it's dying? Funny you should ask. I helped my dad lift a sofa and he realised I was a hell of a lot stronger than I looked, so I've been helping getting full cabinets upstairs.

Ouch.

Anyway, I'm ready for a long bath. That involves no spiders. Yeah, clearing out the playroom I came across a huge one that'd taken refuge in one of my many boxes of school books. That gave me the fright of my life. We were forbidden (by ultimate over-god father) to kill the damned thing so it kept climbing back upstairs to the books. Which happened to be just at the top of the stairs. Next to my open bedroom door. Let's not go there.

Hope your weekend was good. Mine was.
Love xx

Drink Driving Awareness (forwarding email I received)

Not usually one for forwarding emails and that lot, but I sent this one on. Copy and paste it and send it off to some people if you think it's worth it. I haven't put the list of names because there's about a thousand. But if this can raise awareness, then I'm all for it. Sorry it's so huge, but I decided it's best left in it's original form.

I went to a  party,

And  remembered what you said.
You  told me not to drink, Mum
So  I had a sprite instead.

I  felt proud of myself,

The  way you said I would,
That  I didn't drink and drive,
Though  some friends said I should.

I  made a healthy choice,

And  your advice to me was right,
The  party finally ended,
And  the kids drove out of sight.

I  got into my car,

Sure  to get home in one piece,
I  never knew what was coming, Mum
Something  I expected least.

Now  I'm lying on the pavement,

And  I hear the policeman say,
The  kid that caused this wreck was drunk,
Mum,  his voice seems far away.

My  own blood's all around me,

As  I try hard not to cry.
I  can hear the paramedic say,
This  girl is going to die.

I'm  sure the guy had no idea,

While  he was flying high,
Because  he chose to drink and drive,
Now  I would have to die.

So  why do people do it, Mum

Knowing  that it ruins lives?
And  now the pain is cutting me,
Like  a hundred stabbing knives.

Someone  should have taught him,

That  it's wrong to drink and  drive.
Maybe  if his parents had,
I'd  still be alive.

My  breath is getting shorter, Mum

I'm  getting really scared.
These  are my final moments,
And  I'm so unprepared.

I  wish that you could hold me Mum,

As  I lie here and die.
I  wish that I could say, 'I love you, Mum!'
So  I love you and good-bye.

Town!

Went into town today. Nothing interesting.
AAAALTHOUGH!

I think someone tried to pickpocket me (well, my bag). See, I was wearing one of those small bags you sling across your shoulder, and only really has space for a purse, glasses, keys. Possibly tissues. Anyway, mine was pretty safe, because it had a zip, and a flap. However. Getting on the escalator down from near H&M, in the Oracle, my mum was just walking in front of me, at mega-pace, as usual. Basically, this guy coming from the other side of the escalator to get on looked at my mum, looked at me, and then accelerated trying to get in between us. I immediately increased my own speed, got on the step behind Mummy. But the guy then got onto the escalator a step above me, and moved down to step beside me. I was very conscious that he'd been touching my bag as I stepped on and having him standing right next to me on a crowded escalator, on the same side as my bag made me put my hand down onto it, just in case. This could just be me being paranoid, but hey, it's the only vaguely exciting thing I can think of.

G'night xx

Always look on the briight siide of life, be-doo, be-doo be-doo be-doo

I love Friday nights. I don't know what I did before I had flute stuff. Wait, I played tennis. Ah well, now I'm in a nicer tennis group and I get to do musical stuff. Great! My spidey senses tell me that without Fridays, I'd have no reason to love Fridays. Ah. Except that ability to sit down and do NO homework. Not that I get much time to sit down.

Perla would appear to be a bit of a neat freak.
My room has been hoovered. Which is good.
My room has also been tidied. Not so good. I like my organised mess.
Anything on the floor or my bottom bunk has been cleared XD. Onto my desk >:(.
The adaptor that runs round my room supplying power to my laptop, radio, reading lights, hair-dryer, phone charger etc. etc. has been put on my desk.
This is mad.
OHMIGOSH!
I just realised the stuff I put BACK on my bottom bunk earlier is what is stopping me from using my pc mouse. Sheesh!

Die muttie ist wieder nach Hause gafahren, aslo muss ich sie nicht mehr in Franchreich an rufen wenn ich hilfe brauche. Und das ist sehr gut! (My mum's back from France and that's very good because I don't need to call her in Paris when I need help. That's very good!)

Elections. Sorry, there's no avoiding it. WE HAVE A HUNG PARLIAMENT. I woke up asking who'd won, my dad said "Conservative" my response should not be recorded here.

Then I was informed that actually, not all the results were in yet.
Our constituency has switched from Labour to Tory. Damn.
BUT practically the whole of Scotland is under Liberal Democratic rule (I'm half Scottish).
I'm not sure how this can work though. Because the way I see it, Lib Dems won't form a coalition with Tories. Lib Dems won't go with Labour unless Gordon Brown ("this is not for me, this is for you, the public") steps down. In the interests of his party, it better be for the public. BUT Labour-Dems can't work because they wouldn't have a majority. :( We'll see how this works.
If we just don't have a party in power, isn't that good, because it means every party has to listen to each other, and every person is represented, so the leading party (that wouldn't exist) wouldn't be able to pass laws without the support of others. Surely that's good? Surely a coalition isn't needed? We will see.

It's time for sleep, so night xx

Hang Hang Hang!

That title is no reference to the way you should die, or what you should do with your shirts. It is what I want to happen to the parliament. Because Lib. Dems aren't going to get a clear majority, but if no-one can get the required number of seats, Labour have GOT to form a coalition with Lib Dems, otherwise the Tories will get in. And I will cry. Or just go round in a REALLY bad mood.

Dear Ellie,
you are so lucky! i asked my dad to take me with him (my mum has a postal vote and is in Paris at the moment) to the voting station, so i could see what it was like! no. apparently not. hmm. and to think, if the next election is in three years and a month and a bit (minimum) then i will be voting. so why can't i go. hmm. you'll have to tell me tomorrow what it was like.

Ahem, I'm not staying up to watch the results. Honest! I'm gonna be sooo tired tomorrow!

The Unfortunate Incident of a Wasp on the Stairs

If I'd actually read The Unfortunate Incident of a Dog in the Night I'm sure I'd make some crappy attempt at imitating the style in this post. Unfortunately, no such luck.
The incident:
There was an evil death wasp. It was on the stairs. It was dieing. That is to say it was writhing about on it's way to death. It scared the hell out of me. I can't kill stuff. My brother (who has shingles, bless him) killed the evil death wasp. The evil death wasp has been cremated.

Toby wants to vote UKIP.

NO! What is WRONG with that?
He says "Oh, they'd stop immigration!"
My response to that: "We do NOT need to stop immigration, that is wrong and right wing. We just need to stabilise it."

Toby's an idiot.

We had a wonderful debate at the dinner table (which I won), about who has more of a social life, Toby, or Barney. I supported Barney and went on to inform Toby of the merits of Barney's efforts to start a band (or be in one) with his friends, and his commitment in starting a Warhammer Club at school. He's only in year seven, bless. Toby thinks Warhammer is "gay" (admittedly I wouldn't play it, but I know some decent guys who do) and that a Warhammer club isn't going to affect whether Barney gets a job as (for example) a lawyer. Having had an interesting Careers talk yesterday, I proved him - effectively - wrong.

And with that, I run out of things to say.
History homework again. What is wrong with this? I swear that's three nights in a row!
Oh well, can't complain, it may have a positive impact on my GCSE result. I'm thinking I'll take all the help I can get. Especially History and French.

bubble Bubble BUBBLE BUBBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sane. Promise! ;)

I'm really trying to balance out all the bad posts with good ones. This is potentially a good one.
I am currently in a bubble of happiness (despite frustration, and certain knowledge of worse to come) which consists of me jumping up and down in excitement when I remember the most trivial (NEW WORD I hope it means unimportant/insignificant or something like that) of things, telling the story with great excitement and usually losing my trail of thought halfway through and changing the subject.

By the way, I'm going to marry someone Irish    XD    Fine, fine, maybe things won't go that way, but if I spend a gap year in Ireland, maybe they will. I hope so. I'm in love with the Irish accent. Have been for ages.

Also (sorry, this is evil, but it doesn't fit into the other post) I've come to the conclusion that the afore mentioned Dorris is Bi. I'm pretty sure. (In case you didn't see that post, Dorris is a girl whose name I'm not saying, for reasons of (my) security and whom I despise)(deeply)(a lot).

POSITIVE POSITIVE POSITIVE!!!!!!!

It's sunny. Or was earlier. Dorris invited herself to Rachel's birthday party. Specifically for people with invites that haven't even been issued yet. Dorris is not going. I'm ensuring it. The Spotify adverts are getting ridiculous. See the full extent of my changing subject problem. I have a pot of money in my room. XD. I've bought part of Rachel's birthday present. I promise you, there are links between these things in my head. But that's my head. I can't be bothered to explain them here. SMILES ARE WONDERFUL!
Man, I should really add to my "About Me" section that I am mad, and this blog is insane. As a warning. That would be good. NAH!
People can discover the hard (or fun, because I'm convinced the hard way is always more fun than the easy way. unless the hard way involves punishments. but at least that way you discover stuff for yourself) way.
SMILING IS FUN!
XD~XD~XD~XD~XD~XD~XD~XD~XD~XD

The Au Pair Question

To put it in the least number of words possible:
This is not going to work!

I'm sorry, but Perla has been here since Sunday night, on Monday, we took her into town, to show her around. Fail. I'm sure she still has no idea what is where. Or even where the bus stop I specifically pointed out to her is.
Yesterday morning, Daddy got out Barney's home maths textbook and started explaining to Perla that every morning, Barney must do one hour of maths. In very simple terms. Then started saying things like "Barney must do maths. He want get into Toby's school. Toby's school very good. Barney must study for exam (accompanied by frantic writing motions) to go to Toby's school. He left the room, satisfied that he's conveyed (NEW WORD) his message effectively. Fail. She turned to me and, pointing at the book said "This? For Barney?" I'm sorry, but fail. This morning, she asked "What time, turn?" after several repeats, Barney sussed the meaning (what time will you all return from school).
Me: Barney?
Barney: I come home, at four ten.
Perla nods
Me: Toby and Me (point at each person) get a train. Train arrives at four. You must come to station at four. Collect us.

Luckily Sam was on the train. We got a lift with her at five past four, looking out for our car on the way home. No sight of it. We got home to find Perla still there, not even contemplating leaving. This is bad. What about the days when there's no Sam? Or we get separate trains? Then, in the kitchen, I got my yoghurt (because that's just what I do when I get home), and he had a pile of washing. She asked me if she ironed my skirt. She asked if she ironed my jeans. She didn't ask if she should iron my hoodie. I separated my clothes (that didn't need ironing) from the boys' boxers (yes, ick. at least they were clean) and went upstairs. Returning to retreive my yoghurt, I noticed that the jacket potatoes are already in the oven. Wrapped in foil, something I've never seen before, and if it means they don't get a crispy skin, I may cry. But I was surprised, because I know jacket spuds take ages. But not that long. It was only ten past four. I checked the timer. They're going to be ready for five. First of all - I swear jacket spuds only take 30 to 40 minutes, not the 50 remaining when I got in. Second - we eat at five thirty. Earliest. And I'm pretty sure Barney's tutor, David, is coming today, so that would mean we need to eat at closer to 6.30.
I've decided not to interfere. Who knows, she may know what she's doing. Doubt it, but we'll "cross that bridge when we come to it" (thank you Becca xx).

We also have the issue that she appears unable to tell the past, present and future tense apart. That's bad. Very bad. Oh, and everyone is referred to as "you". If she wants to say "He went upstairs to get his coat"  you get "You went upstairs to get his coat" often you can tell what she means. Sometimes - the crucial times - you can't.

This is probably not going to work out. We have some vital communication issues. And frankly, if some idiot goes and jumps on the tracks at Didcot Parkway again (it's been done so many times. it's been done recently. it means all the trains towards Oxford - my train - get cancelled for 3 or 4 hours) I do NOT want to be stranded in Reading Station because she's at Tilehurst. Or at home, expecting to collect us the next day.

This is a bad idea. Congratulations, Mother. Yeah, you're right, she can't be deceptive. But she can't UNDERSTAND US ANYWAY!

Oh jeez. I'm going to go do some more History homework.

PACK UP YOUR TROUBLES IN YOUR OLD KIT BAG AND SMILE, SMILE, SMILE! XD

Okay, the much more positive post I promised.
Thanks go out to Ellie, for her lovely compliment about my hair, which brightened my day when I read it this morning. Thanks also to Mark, who succesfully noticed :P quote from Mark: "It's like a foot shorter so yeah I noticed" end quote.
Then I want to say HI to Martha, who has by some inconceivable (NEW WORD) means found my blog and started following it. I LOVE YOU MARTHA! See you in maths!
Then I want to say, chin up, you're doing great, to the low-self-esteemed (if that makes sense) Rachel, who is doing amazingly and needs to smile and think about positive things, like SUNSHINE!!!
Then I want to say, to noone in particular: WHAT IS WITH YESTERDAY'S WEATHER? I mean come on, sun, rain, sun, sun, sun, clouds, sun, HAIL, sun again! And with the localised weather, POURING IN READING WHILE ITS SUNNY IN PANGBOURNE WITH NO SIGN OF RAIN!? What is the world coming to?
Then I want everyone to say to my eleven-year-old brother, Barney, you're not going to die, it's only shingles!
Then I'm going to go talk to Rachel on msn. Ahem, I mean do some History homework, ahem ahem

You've got an IQ that's so bloody high, and I watch Rugrats and it makes me cry

Aaah, first of all, the words of a brilliant song. Second of all, I'm thinking that quite a lot of Kendrick girls, or just anyone really under exam pressure, but I say Kendrick because we've practically got the whole county expecting us to do well, and we have to beat the Abbey (obviously :P). I mean, doesn't everyone in school sometimes feel like they're pathetic while everyone around them's brilliant?

I'm not in a particularly down mood, actually, I just thought of that this morning, when I had the song stuck in my head, and had a sudden realisation of how it could be applied to everyday life. So there it is.

Now, I can promise you, that the next bit is going to sound positively evil (if you can be positive and evil at the same time) so if you don't want me to ruin your day, stop reading now. I MEAN IT!

Okay, seeing as you've chosen to continue reading, here is my other sudden realisation of the day (gosh, I'm really on fire today XD).

Baasically, sitting in the back of the class in Physics, last lesson, I realised the true meaning of the word hate. People always think they can be wise (which often they can) and say "hate is a very strong word" but now I can fully appreciate the saying. I've said I hate a certain unnamed person, who for the duration of this post will be known as Dorris many times over. And I really thought I meant it. But, today Dorris (ok, I shouldn't be laughing in the middle of this, but DORRIS! no offence anyone called Dorris, I've just never met anyone with that actual name) proved me totally wrong. I found out she'd done something for which I could simply NOT just NOT forgive her. It wasn't even something that would affect me (too directly, as anything that affects a good friend of mine affects me). But I found out she'd done it, and I found myself so full of absolute, undiluted RAGE, such that I've never felt before, and when walking into Physics behind her, seeing her "comforting" my closest and dearest friend, who she'd hurt so badly (but hurt me more, as I seem to have taken what she did worse than said friend) I felt this feeling, coming from the very centre of me, which I am going to tell you now, is not the heart, or even the belly button, but some place just beneath the sternum, the VERY CENTRE of your being, this feeling, coming from the very centre of me, and it wasn't just of the pure rage that I wanted so much to direct at this traitorous "friend" but also a feeling, I identified as pure hatred! OK, I'm done being evil.
I'm now going to go write a much nicer post to go over the top of this one, to direct away from my evilness.
XD xx

HI!!!

HELLO!!!!
I'm aware I haven't said anything for a while, so I'm dutifully posting something. I've had a relatively wasp-free time. Spiders are now haunting me. Last night was band. Which, I must say, was AMAZING!!! DUH! Oops, promised not to say that, didn't I? Sorry. Anyway, Seren came and it was just great, Chazza actually turned up this week, I saw Becca again (yes, she does go to school with me, yes, I see her and hold conversations with her regularly at school, but still!), I saw Becca's friend Emily, who's just great really. I saw Ellie, who is lovely, and SO pretty! Unfair. I saw Mark, who is no longer stuck in America, and got back in time for one day of school before the bank holiday. Hmm. But I'm glad he's back, I don't know how I've managed to walk to school with no-one to hit in the mornings (jks jks) actually, come to think of it, I haven't needed to hit anyone. This is all me in high spirits, I love Mark really (as nothing more than a friend, obviously), he's great fun. Even if a little evil XD.

I'm going to go take advantage of the sun now, because it's supposed to rain tomorrow, and it would be tragic if I didn't make the most of the good weather before then.
Bye! XX
